Sanzi is a daily Chinese handwriting app. We built it to need as little of your data as possible.

What stays on your device

Your written characters, your collection, your streak, your reminder time, and your settings are saved only on your phone. We never receive your handwriting. Deleting the app deletes this data.

What we collect

To understand how Sanzi is used, the app sends a small number of anonymous events to our server: when the app is opened, when a character is written, when a day is completed, and when a day card is shared. Each event includes the event name, the app platform, and an approximate location (country and city) derived from your network address by our hosting provider. We store a one-way hash in place of your IP address to count unique visitors per day. None of this is linked to your identity, and we cannot use it to identify you.

Notifications

Daily reminders are scheduled locally on your device at the time you choose. We do not use a push notification service and do not collect any device token.

Waitlist email

If you join the waitlist on sanzi.app, we store your email address only to tell you about Sanzi. We never sell or share it. Ask us anytime to delete it.

Sharing

We do not sell your data. Our website and app content are served by Cloudflare, which processes network requests to deliver them. The sanzi.app website (not the mobile app) uses Overlordy analytics to count page visits.

Children

Sanzi is suitable for learners of all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Your choices

You can turn off reminders in Settings or in your phone's settings. You can clear your progress anytime in Settings, Reset progress.
